Our Atmosphere
When you walk into Dakota, it’s almost as if you strolled into a parallel universe where the "aloha spirit" of Hawaiian grown Sabrina Roark and the “southern hospitality” of Texas-to-LA transplant Alex Fieglein, meet to produce a live music setting where beach and beats meet local hospitality. The name “Dakota” was chosen simply because the Indian word translates into “friend.” Not only do the staff make friends with many of the locals that frequent Dakota’s bar, but the atmosphere encourages people of all backgrounds and cultures to relate to each other through a love of live music.
The plan for Dakota is simple— to bring people of all backgrounds together to eat some good food, share some good drinks, enjoy some good company and listen to some good music. And while many bar owners stay behind the scenes, Alex and Sabrina plan to stay behind the bar—learning the names of everyone that orders a drink there, and hanging out with these new friends. The Dakota clientele isn't a nameless face with a glass to be filled and a wallet to be emptied. The Dakota clientele is the Los Angeles local, the transplant from all corners of the world, the surfer, the traveler, the entrepreneur, the artist, the music lover that used to sneak thru venue windows to catch live shows (although Dakota's doors will be open to anyone with a legal ID). And don't forget that all the environmentally-conscious clientele can rest easy as well; the table-tops are made from recycled bamboo, the artwork is done on recycled wood , the floors are lain from recycled wood and the menus are printed on recycled paper.
